Preview: vs Philadelphia (3/10)

KNICKS (24-40) VS. 76ers (15-47) | MADISON SQUARE GARDEN

When: Monday @ 7:30 PM

Watch on: MSG, Comcast Sportsnet

Where to Listen: ESPN 98.7 FM

Two teams at the tail end of the Eastern conference (and the struggling Atlantic Divison) face off tonight as the 76ers make their final trip to MSG this season. The visitors are on a 16-game skid, as they  have no intentions of winning, and continue to tank enter rebuilding mode.

The Knicks have three straight wins (after dropping seven in a row) and posted a 107-97 victory at Cleveland on Saturday behind the efforts of Carmelo Anthony and resurgent Amare Stoudemire Looks like Mike Woodson’s riding this ship til the end, and its up to the players to see if they sink or float.

Last time the Sixers came to the Garden, they still had Evan Turner (random career high 34pts)  and won 110-106 (during the Knicks 7 game skid).

The Sixers haven’t won a game since trading Turner, and they’re best players right now, Micheal Carter-Williams and Thaddeus Young, shot a combined 13-39 that night.

76ers Projected // vs Knicks Suggested

PG – Carter-Williams // Felton

SG – Anderson// Shumpert !

SF – Thompson // Smith

PF – Young // Anthony

C – Sims // Stoudemire

! – Iman Shumpert should get the nod over Prigioni tonight versus a taller, more athletic Sixers front court. He’s averaging 13 pts and 7rbs against this Sixers in two games this season.

Keys to the Game:

Team Rebounding  – This Sixers team is 12th in the league in rebounding, and without Tyson Chandler (personal reasons) in the middle it’ll be up to Carmelo Anthony and the guards to the crash boards.

Harass MCW  – The Rookie of the Year candidate appears to have hit the rookie wall, struggling with turnovers (4.5)  and shooting (.362 FG /.105 3FG)  since the All Star break.

PHI 99 – NYK 121

Philly just lost at home to a last place Utah team, but the Knicks will have to come out with a bang if they hope to win handily without Tyson Chandler. Expect big numbers from JR Smith, who’s shot well from the field (48.6%) and from distance (50%)  during the win streak.

  1. Good preview. Should be no problem for the Knicks tonight, as the Sixers are (unsurprisingly) looking horrific at this moment. 4 wins in a row for NY.
