When: Sunday @ 7:30 PM
Watch on: CSN, MSG
- 12/10 – NYK 94 @ CLE 109
- 01/30 – CLE 86 @ NYK 117
- 03/08 – NYK 107 @ CLE 97
- 03/23 – CLE @ NYK
The Knicks escaped with a their eighth consecutive win Friday in what turned out to be a nail biter vs. Philly. With the Atlanta Hawks losing to the Raptors earlier Sunday, the Knicks can cut their playoff deficit to only 2 games.
Last time the Knicks faced the Cavs in MSG, Carmelo Anthony stuffed the stat sheet for 26 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 steals and 2 blocks. The Knicks hit 14 threes that night.
The streak was only 3 games deep then, and both teams have headed in opposite directions since then.
Cavaliers Projected // vs Knicks Suggested
PG – Jack // Felton
SG – Waiters// Shumpert !
SF – Gee // Anthony
PF – Thompson //Stoudemire
C – Hawes //Chandler
! – With Kyrie Irving out for the Cavs, Dion Waiters has taken on the scoring load for his team (28 ppg last two). Iman Shumpert is the Knicks’ best option at slowing him down.
Keys to the Game:
Feed the Forwards Luol Deng and C.J. Miles are expected to be out with ankle injuries for the Cavs. Melo and Amare Stoudemire should look to take advantage of this lack of depth.
Smith, the Sixth Amare’s resurgence has been a boon during the streak, but he’s not been the only Knick having a good March. JR Smith’s had his best month statically (outside of Saturdays game), and he’s shown flashes of the player who won Sixth Man of the Year last year. If he comes off the bench, expect him to light it up.
CLE 91 – NYK 101
The Knicks almost dropped one on the road, expect them to come out focused Sunday. Without All – Star point guard Kyrie Irving (30.3 pts, 7.3 ast in 3 games vs NY) to keep the team afloat, the Cavs offense should stagnate in the second half.
Keep an eye on the Jack/Felton match up.
