Knicks (30-42) vs. Suns (43-29) | US Airways Center
When: Friday @ 10:00 PM EST
Watch on: MSG, Comcast Sportsnet, NBA LP
Where to Listen: ESPN 98.7 FM
A win Friday would pull the Knicks to within one game of Atlanta, which has lost five straight. The Pheonix Suns have won their last five. Which Knicks team will take the floor friday night?
“I’ve been to (the playoffs) the last four or five years now, and to be home watching it on TV is not going to be any fun. So I’m desperately pushing these guys to try and get ’em in there, because then a new season starts and anything is possible.”
Mike Woodson, Knicks head coach/ESPN.cpm
Last time these two teams faced off, The Suns (sans Eric “Mini LeBron” Bledsoe) lost in overtime to the Knicks. Carmelo Anthony had 29 points and 16 rebounds. This was back during the JR Smith benching saga.
Melo hasn’t won a game in the Valley of the Sun since his rookie year (2004). This is only Amare Stoudemire’s second game returning to Phoenix since his departure 2010.
Key to the Game:
- Guard the Guards. Knicks point guards have been outscored by 8.9 points per 48 minutes this season (82games.com data) Shooting guards have been outscored by 6.9 points per 48 minutes. Bledsoe and Dragic make up one of best backcourts in the West, and Shumpert can’t guard em both. JR Smith will have to step it.
PHX 113 – NY 109
In high scoring affair, the Knicks should decide to go with Shumpert and Smith down the stretch. Both teams are clawing for a playoff spot, and Phoenix will want it more than New York does.
friday, friday. Remember this Knicks fans?:
